Job purpose
- The planning and organising of a well thought out activity programme that can educate. entertain and generally stimulate residents in accordance with their assessed needs and wishes as recorded in their service user plans
- To offer activities for residents that reflect their individual and cultural interests and are developed in accordance with the home’s equality and diversity policies and commitment to anti-discrimination.
- Activities to be provided for both the morning and the afternoon. 7 days per week
- To ensure care plan system and other software completed contemporaneously allowing the home to measure activities against its key performance indicators.
Key responsibilities
- To involve residents in developing suitable programmes of activity. To work closely with other staff to ensure that they achieve the best possible, responsive outcomes for residents and comply with the national minimum care standards.
- To help assess and collate residents’ interests and preferences in association with other care staff, particularly key workers, to ensure a responsive activity programme is achieved.
- To plan and organise programmes of individual and group activities in response to the identified activities and preferences, working closely with residents, staff and others involved in the organising and the running of events. This includes the organisation of trips and outings, ensuring that the Health and Safety of the service users at all times.
- To be responsible for the appropriate use of the home’s activities programme budget.
- To organise publicity and information about the activities being offered, displaying, distributing and updating the information to residents, staff and others involved.
- To contribute to the updating of the parts of the home’s Statement of Purpose and Service User Guide relating to the home’s educational and social activities.
- To organise staff training to enable them to contribute to the programme of activities according to their interests and skills.
- To regularly review and evaluate the activities programme so that it is kept up to date and fit for purpose and supports the service users. In addition, investigate, develop and extend the range of activities that the home can offer. For example, by carrying out regular ‘customer satisfaction surveys’ of the activities provided so that they may be continuously improved.
- To ensure that there is a programme of activity to meet the needs of the residents.
- To drive the minibus as required and to be MIDAS trained.
- To observe at all times the Trust’s policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, in particular those relating to Health and Safety at Work and Data Protection.
- To attend training as required by the Trust to ensure that the best possible service is provided to our residents and to all departments.
- To contribute to the home’s ambience at end of life of a resident.
