The Trust’s respected 44 bed care home is recruiting for a full-time Housekeeping and Cleaning Manager to manage the housekeeping team and ensure the care home is kept clean to the required standards that fully meet internal, CQC and other statutory health and safety requirements.

Qualifications are desirable and we provide extensive training and continuous professional development. You will have a genuine interest in the care, well being and comfort of residents at Russell Churcher Court and you’ll want to work hard and make a positive contribution to the Thorngate Living team. A smart uniform is provided.

Ideally you will have:

  • Practical knowledge of infection control procedures, health, safety and COSHH requirements and the required cleanliness standards the relevant CQC regulations.
  • Ability to act as Infection Control Lead with support of Registered Manager
  • A solid understanding of the cleaning and housekeeping needs of a registered care home.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff.
  • A values-based approach to your work, colleagues and residents.
  • Excellent communication and people skills. A can-do attitude, with a professional, approachable and caring out-look, liaising with residents, family members and colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and experience of liaising with suppliers for equipment servicing.
  • The know-how to set clear goals for the team members to follow and able to prioritise the work of the team.
  • Good IT skills, able to use email and Microsoft word to write reports.
  • A flexible approach to your work and able to work unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The effective running of cleaning and laundry duties for the care home and residents’ rooms within Russell Churcher Court.
  • To ensure the whole team delivers safety, privacy and welfare of the residents while delivering an effective cleaning and housekeeping service.
  • Planning and supervising the work schedule, staff rota and leave bookings for the cleaning and housekeeping team and ensuring effective cleaning cover is provided at all times including weekdays and weekends.
  • Provide leadership to the housekeeping team and run 1-2-1 and supervision meetings with team members on a regular basis and where required complete return to work interviews.
  • Ensuring the team is fully up to date with required mandatory training, and lead on infection prevention/control.
  • Consult with residents and colleagues on a regular basis to ensure their needs and choices are being met. Obtain regular and meaningful feedback from residents. Attend residents’ meetings.
  • Report immediately any concerns regarding incidents and safeguarding matters.
  • Infection control, ensuring that all of the Trust policy requirements are complied with and audits are completed as instructed by the manager.
  • Minimising the risks of infection and cross contamination through the application of the required cleaning practices.
  • Participate in the daily department meeting.
  • Ordering consumable supplies and cleaning materials as agreed with the Registered Care Home Manager to ensure stock levels are maintained and these are costed and within the agreed housekeeping budget. Ensure COSHH folders and sheets are updated.
  • Ensuring housekeeping equipment is maintained and serviced and that any defects are reported.
  • Organise deep cleaning duties when required.
  • Ensuring all of Russell Churcher Courts housekeeping and cleaning standards meet COSHH, Health and Safety, and CQC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure resident’s laundry is collected, cleaned and ironed to a high standard.
  • Ensure resident’s rooms are clean and tidy, rooms are kept free of waste and any spills and stains etc. are cleaned and removed immediately.
  • Ensure that all furniture in resident’s rooms including chairs, cupboards, wardrobes and clothing drawers are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure all procedures and instructions in relation to Health & Safety and COSHH are carried out properly and efficiently.
  • Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely and used efficiently.
  • Report on accidents, illness and defects within the building and surroundings via the Trust’s processes.
  • Ensure all digital paperwork required is accurate and complete.
  • Have a commitment to undertake training as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as directed.
