Bea, Data & Compliance Manager at our Russell Churcher Court care home in Gosport, has recently achieved her Level 3 Diploma in Medication Training (Train the Trainer) which means she is fully qualified to teach and check the competency of colleagues giving medicine. In a residential care home such as Russell Churcher Court, trained carers give medicines prescribed by GPs or other medical professionals to our residents, and these carers are trained by a more highly trained and qualified manager. Carers use this medication training along with a market leading software platform to ensure that medicines are given exactly as prescribed and that their performance is tracked and competency regularly assessed.
What is exceptional about Bea is the speed and dedication with which she has achieved this valuable medication training accreditation, driven by her passion for teaching and care of our residents. Bea achieved this in just a few months and passed all the competency assessments laid down by the qualification with flying colours. Bea’s tutor said of her: “You have some great skills, and I can honestly see how you will grow so many learners in the future.”
Bea commented: “I really love teaching. I feel it is in my DNA; all my family were professors. I am self-sufficient when I am learning something new, however I like to put myself in the shoes of the learner and try to notice from people’s expressions when they are struggling, and then I know what to help them with. Some people say I have a gift for helping people.“
Chief Executive Anne Taylor added: “Bea is a stand-out team member who always goes the extra mile. We recognise that it is essential to have a highly skilled team, not least where medication is concerned. Despite already having one medication trainer, we felt it was important to have at least one more. We are all so very proud of Bea and look forward to her using these teaching skills going forward.”
