Plans for a new homes development for the over 50s in Gosport have been given the go ahead. Thorngate is set to provide 39 new homes for those over 50 and of limited means.
I applied to Thorngate because I could not afford the rent and running costs of the house I lived in after my husband died. I really love my flat at Melrose Gardens and I am very happy as there is everything I could possibly want. Everything is on one floor and it is bright and cheerful which is very important to me.
We have an excellent warden here and the pull cord system makes me feel safe out of hours too. In fact all the wardens are there to help if needed which is very good. Above all I feel safe and looked after, with all maintenance covered for me. Everyone around is the same age and there are lots of things to do. Since moving here I have been treated very well and feel lucky to be here.
With my deteriorating health, I can honestly say that my life has changed 100 percent since I moved here as I didn’t go out where I used to live. There is all the social contact I need right here through coffee mornings, lunch clubs and lots of one-off events. I feel very blessed that the Trust gave me a flat and in doing so, a new lease of life. We are really lucky to have the Trust in Gosport.
