Thorngate Churcher Trust, one of the UK’s leading almshouse charities, seeks a self-motivated, caring and organised part-time Warden to join Thorngate Living’s Warden team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy in Thorngate Court, a scheme comprising 47 sheltered flats, all set within attractive gardens. The role will also provide cover for the Trust’s two other sheltered housing schemes at Elizabeth Court and Melrose Gardens. All three schemes are located in Gosport.
Reporting to the Housing and Support Manager, the role is responsible for:
Housing and building management: typically noting and reporting on the condition of the building and equipment, showing prospective residents around, managing the cleaner, the security of all buildings, liaising with Gosport Borough Council and other partner agencies to obtain and/or exchange information as required, monitoring resident’s compliance with their Licence and keeping accurate records.
Support: responding, when on duty, without delay to emergency calls. Providing assistance to residents and keeping next of kin appraised of developments and issues arising. Checking in daily with residents, with minimum intervention, and arranging and/or providing short-term assistance and support. Ensuring residents have access to a wide range of social activities on site and facilitating access to these as required.
An example of the working pattern might be:
Week One – 4 x 7.5 hour days and 1x 4 hour day
Week Two – 3 x 7.5 hour days
Week Three – 4 x 7.5 hour days
Week Four – 2 x 7.5 hour days and 1x 4 hour day.
In addition, 24 hour cover is to be provided on an 'on call' basis for 15 days in every 4 weeks.
