Sarah Merrick (left) and Milly Aquilina Gray (right) are the happy first recipients of Thorngate Living's new staff recognition award.
The new awards have been set up to recognise and highlight exceptional work by members of Thorngate Living staff. Sarah Merrick is Activities Co-ordinator at Russell Churcher Court care home where she organises activities ranging from visits by petting farms, musicians and entertainers, day trips, outings and indoor activities such as crafts, quizzes and bingo. A recent highlight is the August day-trip for residents to the seaside. All the residents and accompanying carers reported a great time was had by all, and the fish and chips were delicious!
Thorngate Living's chief executive Anne Taylor said: "What bowled me over was the excitement of every resident and carer who went on the trip. Everybody has super memories and a different story to tell."
Milly Aquilina Gray also wins an award. Anne Taylor and Russell Churcher Court's manager, Sally Malyon, agreed: "... the last 6 months have seen proactive and positive change during a particularly intensive phase in our continuous improvement programme. Milly has helped staff overcome organisational challenges and provided support to the senior management team."
Sally Malyon added: "Certainly we couldn't have delivered the successes of the past few months without Milly's indefatigable spirit and incredible support."
